Apprenticeship ...

...The path to a great career in the electrical construction industry!

The IBEW offers training opportunities which provide an "earn while you learn" educational program, resulting in certification as a Journeyman craftsman. Once certified as a Journeyman, an electrical industry employee enjoys a certification that is universally recognized wherever the Journeyman chooses to be employed. Depending on the trade, apprenticeship lasts from 3 1/2 to 5 years, and includes classroom instruction, practical instruction, and on-the-job training under the supervision of Journeyman craftsmen. Unlike most unorganized training programs, a JATC apprenticeship insures regular pay advancement and very high completion rates.

The IBEW and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) have developed the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) to provide national programs for training apprentices in the electrical industry. All programs are registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, and provide the very best in training opportunities for the future craftsmen of the industry.

For information about the NJATC, and available programs, contact the National NJATC website at www.njatc.org

Programs are administered at the Local Area level. A joint committee, consisting of IBEW members and NECA contractors administer each Local Area Program.

Apprenticeships are offered in each of the following areas:
